His single "The A Team" entered the UK Singles Chart at number three, selling over 58,000 copies in the first week, overall it was the eighth best selling single of 2011 selling over 800,000 copies. The song was not just popular in the UK, it became top 10 in numerous countires including Australia, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway and the Netherlands. He then realised "You need me, but I don't need you" which reached number two on the UK charts, "Lego house" and "drunk" which all reached top ten on Australian, Irish, Scottish, New Zealand Singles Charts. Ed Sheerans debut album + was released on the 12th of September 2011 which debuted on the UK charts selling over 102,000 copies in the first week. It became the second best selling debut album and the ninth biggest-selling album of 2011 in the UK. By the time of March 2012, the album had sold over 1,021,072 copies in the UK along with reaching top 10 in 7 other countries. Ed sheeran co-wrote with many other artists including One Direction and Taylor Swift soon after his album + was released. In late 2012 and early 2013, "The A Team" received a nomination for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards. He was then the opening act for Taylor Swift at her "The Red" tour from March to September 2013. In December 2013, Sheeran was nominated for Best New Artist at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Ed Sheeran's second studio album x (read as "multiply") was released on 23 June 2014, it soon reached number 1 on UK and US album charts. On 8 October 2014, Sheeran released the music video to the album's third single, "Thinking Out Loud", the video achieved three million views within 24 hours from its release.
